Allied
The North Sea. May 15, 1943

Gentlemen,

The Bismark has been sunk, however we are enduring devastating convoy losses in the Atlantic due
to increased U-boat activity; the middle of the Atlantic is apparently not sufficiently covered by planes or ships.

Orders:

Bombers: B-17f. Field 15 for B-17s. Target Wilhelmshaven, Germany's largest naval base.
The British have been hitting the Sub pens since '39 with limited success.
Since January, American bombers have been targeting the base.
It is time we finish this naval base off...once and for all.

Escorts: P-47C, Spit IX Field 15. take drop tanks, you will need them!
Of special note, one bomber crew aboard the Memphis Belle is coming close to completing its 25 missions.
This will be mission number 24 for the Memphis Belle. A film crew has been flying with the Belle for the last
several weeks collecting footage for a propaganda movie back home.
While we value all of our men we cannot underestimate the moral boost it would be for the
crew of the Memphis Belle to complete their 25 missions...
both for the troops here and for the war effort back home. Dont take any unnecessary risks,
but do what you can to keep the Memphis Belle safe on this mission.

God speed gentlemen.

**WildBill will be piloting the Memphis Belle...do what you can to keep the Belle safe.
Have your acm cams on...if you save the Memphis Belle from certain destruction
(shooting down an enemy that is attacking the Belle)
Wildbill will award a free month of Warbirds to that pilot.

Doolittle Raiders! Take the B-17f. Take a route over the North Sea then turn to target. WildBill will fly with you piloting the Memphis belle.

We may want to send a small group of b-24s as a diversion straight into Belgium and hit a target farther southwest to draw their fighters away from you and the primary target, the port of Wilhelmshaven.

Comments welcome.

The diversionary B24's to Belgium would be nice if we have enough bomber pilots show. We we provide some kind of escort for them as well, not sure we have enough fighters?
The 23rd being a smaller squad now might be a good fit for forward escort duty of the bombers.
Just some thoughts, thanks for setting things up for the frames.

We never seem to have enough numbers! However I think it may be worth it if we can lure some of the axis away. I'm always open to ideas....

here's the raid on youtube:

How about this:

DR's roll B-17s from F15 fly yellow route to avoid DAR.
4th FG rolls escort from 15 (black route)

23rd, 13 sq, RCAF roll fighters from F27, fly White route to draw LW fighters SW. Climb and stay high. Only engage if you must.
if engaged keep them SW, if they do not engage or are much lower, continue route to link up with DR's and 4th over Wilhelmshaven and all RTB together.

LW has 50 mi DAR. Be aware of the German dar towers in the West and East Frisian Islands.

Comments welcome.

IMPORTANT! BONUS 10 POINTS!

A B-17 Bomber has gone down in the North Sea! Due to the low and heavy cloud cover at the time, their location could not be pinpointed.
However we believe the crew to be alive and adrift in the open sea.

Send a spotter plane to the location and begin a search pattern. When you find the crew, radio into your team channel the location and a British rescue boat will be sent to pick them up!

B-17 downed crew will be colored PURPLE. If you use a bomber (B-24) to search, your ai will call out the target when you get close.

At T+10, your side will be given a 10 mile grid to search. Grids are 20 miles. Think of a grid divided into 4 squares.... top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. So downed pilot location will come to you as top left of 5,5 grid or similar.

TO CLAIM YOUR BONUS POINTS:
When you find your downed crew, radio into the GREEN channel buffer (not ch 100) the location and the icon name (we used a particular vehicle as a stand in for the life rafts). Let the janitors know at the end of the frame that you found your downed crew. Janitors will confirm it in the log when we do scoring and will award your team the 10 bonus points.

Good luck!

*Note, Germans Uboats are in the North Sea and as in previous frames, are labeled as 'boat' - these are Uboats, NOT the downed crew.....

RCAF will likely only have 2 tonight.
Any issues with yukone and I joining the 23rd's TS channel?
