s3 #117 MARCH ON BERLIN
FOR ALLIED FORCES: TOP SECRET!

FRAME 2   March 10, 1945

Mission : Disrupt movement of enemy troops along the Rhein River by hitting rail viaducts, bridges and marshaling yards.

BUFF GRP 1:
Sortie 1:
• B-24s  and B17s are dispatched to hit the rail viaducts and bridges on the Rhein River South of Arnhem (F38), The Bielefeld and Dusseldorf Bridges and City of Dusseldorf (F59)

Sortie 2:  Roll 1 Lancaster loaded with 22,000lb Grand Slam and target the Power Plant at Dusseldorf.   B-17s hit marshaling yards and Ballbearing Factory at Cologne.  Drop remaining ord on City of Cologne.

(If you can hit all in one trip, help close 44 and 58 on your 2nd mission)

75% of structure destroyed = success.

BUFF GRP 2:
B-24s and B17s strike LAF 44 and MAF 58.  Attempt to close at least one or both if possible.
Normal closing rules apply for closing.  Will remain closed and maybe captured next frame.

Orders passed along to the group.
23rd will provide escort where needed.
We can supply 2 or so bombers if more are needed, I suspect.

Lets use the same set up as last week. If you were in Buff Grp 1 last week, you are in it in week 2. Same with Buff Grp 2 and escorts. P-38 groups could hit the Dar stations along the coast W, NW, N and SE of F44 (there are 5). Closing 44 and hitting those DAR could open up a gap in the NME DAR for us for later frames.

The red triangles are Dar towers.

No bridges at F49. Just 3 bomb boats and a freighter.

F59 South Bridge, spans 12 and 13 are underground and cannot be destroyed.

Bridges just need one span knocked out to be rendered out of commission.

There are 2 bridges (one bridge one viaduct) just South East of Arnhem and same North of Dusseldorf.

The Lancaster with Tallboy is to target the Power Plant.

Then there are two marshaling yards and a ballbearing factory at Cologne.

The airfields to the North need to be closed as per normal field closing. Meaning all needs to go down to close. The fields will remain closed through the next frame. We will be able to troop next frame.

Any feedback on the bridges near F49 that are not there?

I don't think I ever said anything about F49. There is a bridge and viaduct at F38 S of Arnhem that are targets.

These bridges are not where the orders indicate. Generated F38B1.DTF for the F38 location.

I don’t know what you are talking about but I can see two bridges in the upper left of your image.
