The bomber group delayed take-off for about 20 minutes to give the fighters time to do their thing along the front lines. We wanted to create a brick wall for the enemy as they came into our airspace for the first hour of the mission.

GUTTDU flew his C47 from L2 toward T38. He was NOE the entire time, but was caught just short of the drop zone. We need to remember all the men who used to fly those unarmed transports during the war. Coincidentally, GUTTDU's grandfather was one of them.

Once the bomber group took off, we climbed hard and fast along the DTF route. When we arrived at LAF19, we orbited there while the fighter escorts got into position near the RP. Then, we swung the noses around at 25K and headed in their direction.

Man alive, I almost hate watching the acmcam recording of our ingress to the targets as I prepare this AAR. The gold fighters were all around us. We were attacked hard after we came into the 5,6 grid. We lost our first bomber from a head on attack, but we kept our composure and pressed on.

From what I can see, the majority of fighters were seen on our ingress to L70. Then, we only saw 6-7 cons as we turned over L73. Finally, they thinned out to only about 2-3 cons as we turned over L72.

The bombers hit everything at the field, except the last two huts at the field and I was quickly trying to arrange for someone to finish them off, when the base closure showed up in the buffer. JLORDJ had gone to the deck and finished off the last targets for us... WTG JLO!

Preliminary Summary:
Lost our C47 transport plane (penalty paid)
Lost 4 bombers before we reached the second target (L73)
Lost another to disco after we landed at L19.
2 kills
4 assists

Salute!

Yeah, Cool, but we were trying for a "kodak" moment, and doing the elephant walk to the ramp for a great pic.

Oh well....

Gums....

Probably best to exit and then re-roll. Discos then don't count as a penalty and you get the Kodak. :)

Yes, we learned that the hard way. It has always been in the back of my mind through the years, but until then, it had never happened. Haha. Live and learn, right?

Very cool, JLO. I watched the entire acmcam recording I made and saw the moment that those huts blew up, as we egressed from L72. I took a picture of it too, but my editing program crashed and I lost the picture of it. Can't see watching the whole video again to find it. Thanks for posting the moment, Mr. MVP of the Bomber Group!

Me262s (were) capable of shooting down C47 AI transport planes. While I did not like seeing Guttdu shot down I think finding any fault there is wrong.

Quote:
5. Me262 Restrictions - can only be used as strike a/c throughout the series. All ord and 30mm must be expended on surface targets or AI aircraft only.

Also, there was no way for Berkut to know he was not firing at an AI C47.
As far as he would have known, it was an AI he was shooting at.
I think we should let this one pass.
