Mulling over our situation.

Some thoughts:

I'm going to check and see what it would take to close the two airfields near the frontline. Maybe easier to hit
from altitude. Our buffs could be somewhat safe at 27k+ as well and our fighters out shine theirs at alt.

Gv's can make a difference in the game, like it or not. Just a thought at this point but, First sortie of 6 or more tanks would throw them off
their game to be sure. Could close numerous posts but leave the ai routines run. Kill ai routines later in frame and capture.
How many do we have that would be semi proficient in a tank/etc and willing to do it?

Ideas/Comments?

air assaults followed by a cordinated ground attack with even only 2 guys can move the front by a lot. 1st frame gains were done mainly with only 2 guys on the ground following up the 1st strikes air assault.

Agree sleepy.

While waiting for the frame 3 map, I believe we will still have a nice gap, if not bigger, started between 92/93 which we should exploit frame 3. If we can over run and capture 92,93 and possibly 35 maybe the larger gap in the front line would push things even further back than normal.

The other target area would be 103/116 and possibly 107. IF this area of the front would move further East for frame 4 their airfield at 55 could be easier to hit then cleaned up with tanks. Russian Airfields 55 and 51 are their ace in the hole for ground support.

Cleanup by gv's later in frame after being bombed is smart.

Of course if we managed to do both target areas then we might almost have the bulge encircled.

I’m thinking first sortie bombing mission to one of those areas with escort/forward sweep. I’d like to see 2 bombers each from the 23rd and JG51, with 3 from the 4th. I think a diversionary feint/CAP of some kind will be employed earlier on their radar.

Thoughts on airframes/altitude you would want to use, I’m thinking high ju88’s for the first sortie with even higher fighters…unless clouds are really bad. I understand from HQ that an accurate weather prediction will be given by Saturday.

Will have more once the map is up and I get time to digest anything new.

Thoughts?

Rog, an air assault doesn't have to completely "contest" a field, but kill its hard assets, which closes it. Ground vehicles then can move in and kill the ai defenders contesting it, and also capture in one swell foop. I do like a high alt fast ju 88 strike with 2 500kg and 2 1000 kg bombs seem to work well......hit 20 k, on IP put nose down in a 1000 fpm descent to build speed and it makes you pretty fast and hard to catch.....

if we were to hit 116, 103, and perhaps 107 and we captured all 3 then 103 is only 4.6 mile from field 55...bout an 8 min drive for tankers....that would puncture the front and take thier center airfield, perhaps opeing up a front to take Kharkov (Kursk) next frame.
