In Frame 5 the Allies used their B17s again to advantage closing outpost after outpost. They had lots of support attacking ground targets with the P38s again proving to be very good strike a/c. B17s destroyed 178 targets and P38s wrecked 46. A total of 23 otuposts/arty and 2 grass airfields were closed during the night. Unfortunately 6 fields closed later in the frame do not count due to re-basing issues. There was some confusion on the rules but it stated that each squad had a homebase during the night and must use that unless their airfield was closed. Rebasing allowed the allies to concentrate their forces while the axis could not respond in kind. The overall result was not effected by this penalty.

Axis forces had a tougher night attacking ground units. Stukas did account for 57 targets but lost almost their entire force to deadly low-level AAA. 190F8s accounted for another 15 targets and the axis closed 7 outposts and 1 GAF during the night. In the air the axis again proved superior with the new and improved MC202 claiming 24 kills for 14 losses. Overall the axis fighters claimed 31 for the loss of 18 but their losses in strike a/c made the night more even with total allied claims rising to 31.

Even with the penalty the allies won the frame 81.25 to 78.8 but this was not enough to close the gap and the axis won the series 471.15 to 372.70 with the axis winning 3 of 5 frames.

Great series for tactical strikes and lots of fine planning by both sides. Unfortunately the small terrain made hitting where the enemy wasnt very difficult. The very good results by the MC202 was a surprise on the design side. First time in all the events we featured it in where pilots wanted to fly it.

Sorry for the delay on this write-up. Rushing to get the Greece terrain out for HOG.
Thanks again for playing nice in the S3s.
