http://www.squadselectseries.com - new Malaysia map up and summary

The initial Japanese invasion fleet was only contested by the Royal Navy's Eastern Fleet steaming north to intercept. Japanese reaction was quick with a large force of escorted Vals heading down from Chochinchina to attack. The RAF was ready though and scrambled its Buffalos and Hurricanes to protect the Prince of Wales and Repulse battleships. They also sent a force of Hurricanes to strafe down the advance Japanese HQ at Yala taking out the communications tower there. Siamese flak took out a couple RAF fighters firmly siding the country with Imperial Japan. The attack by Vals on the covered Eastern Fleet saw heavy losses as did a subsequent one in Kates. A total of 25 IJN strike aircraft were lost to the defending British. Two escorting destroyers were sunk by Kate torpedos and the Repulse damaged by several Val bombs. The Royal Navy continued to steam north where the southern Japanese fleet was approaching the important center of Kota Baharu. Already the Japanese Zeros and Oscars were fighting a fierce air battle between the British base and their new airfields in Siam. RN landbased Swordfish began to fly out of the airfield to the nearby Japanese transports. The slow biplanes were difficult for even the nimble Japanese fighters to target and they made repeated torpedo runs on the IJN ships. Four troop transports were lost with heavy loss of life. Seven swordfish were shotdown trying to get to the invasion fleet. The second invasion fleet to Singora made it unharmed and offloaded its important troops and tanks. While the epic fight at Kota Baharu raged Japanese forces made their last attempt against the British navy using their crack long-range Betty bombers and a second round of Kates. Again RAF cover was excellent and most of the G4M1s were shotdown at low-level. A second force came around behind the RAF fighters and struck the battleships which were trailing behind the escorts. After several misses torpedoes struck home and both ships were lost off Kuala Trangganu.

RAF defenses were strong and they won the war in the air, 83 to 33 confirmed kills including AAA. Fighter claims were much closer with the RAF claiming 31 and the Japanese 26. This allowed them to win the frame and take a good lead going into Frame 2. But pilots losses have not yet been tallied.

FRAME 2 - Action takes place in Malaysia with the Japanese beginning their Bicycle Blitzkrieg down both coasts. Fields will slowly turn red during the night. So Allied pilots must be aware when any forward airfields turn red. Japanese may use any captured airfields after they are captured. The Blitz will not go below the 8 horizontal line in this frame.

UPDATE - adjusted inflight DDS for Malaysia showing roads and railways. Corrected textures for hills and mountains.

Make sure you login to S3 arena before gameday to get latest update.

Good Luck in Frame 2
