Both sides were bringing maximum effort to the final frame. The allies had an audacious plan to close 5 enemy airfields deep in Germany while the Luftwaffe planned to hit the forward tac fields and shipping with many small strikes throughout the night.
Each side was successful in their plans with the action being constant and of a high energy for the first two hours of the night. Allied numbers in the end were telling and German attacks on bombers and land targets were worn down until near the end only a few fighters remained airborne to defy the Allied armada.
The elaborate allied bomber mission caught the Luftwaffe deployed around the frontlines for the most part with action off Belgium tying up an entire Luftwaffe Geschwader. German jabos kept coming early on and interfered with C47 routes and the numerous allied a/c parked at airfields. Airfields at T42 were attacked several times and heavily damaged. The brave Ju88 pilots swept into the face of allied fighter CAP and sunk three ships before running for their lives to Holland. As the B24s and escort headed into Germany proper Allies intruders replied in kind taking down Ju52s and sinking 4 ships far off in the Baltic. This time the Luftwaffe did have some fighters nearby and they several mossies were shot down.
The Allied BG was on fire, closing down L92, L93, L91, L89 and just missing closing L74 which had its arty weapon in a different location than the other LAFs. Only 1 B24 was lost the entire night and that was partially due to a friendly fire incident.

Final frame was very close 131 for the Allies to 121 for the Germans. Series goes to the Allies with a final score of 574 to 519.
Tough series for both sides with the Allies having to go deep and the German targets concentrated in a small area. Excellent strike and bomber work by both sides with intense fighter action continuous over a large area.

Salute to everyone that took part.

Will try and get the scores posted for the last series so we can get the Lady Lucks looked after.

Next event Wildcats and Zekes over the new Solomons terrain.

The frame is posted to the S6, but the flu has kept me from doing a write up. Will try to wrap that up this weekend.
