A good question. For the moment, all objects associated with the field are required for closure. If you can make a good case that that is impossible, as opposed to merely challenging, the A/Head janitor is open to appeals. |

There is lots there, but not as bad as it might be. The revetments at the SE end of the field are not required for closure, but the aircraft in them are. Twr, of course, not required for closure. Listing of objects in order of hardness and bomb type to destroy each (assumes DH with no other bomb impacts nearby) 6 Hgrs - 1 1800Kg (4000lb) or 1 1000Kg and 2 250Kg, or 4 250Kg 1 HQ, 4 Warehouses, 2 Barracks, 1 RadarEm - 1 1000Kg or 3 250Kg 2 RdrStn - 1 1000Kg or 2 250Kg 6 Houses - 1 500Kg or 2 250Kg or 3 50Kg 4 Huts - 1 250Kg or 2 50Kg 6 fuel tanks - 1 250Kg or 2 50Kg 7 parked a/c -1 250Kg or 2 50Kg 2 40mm - 1 50Kg 2 20mm - 1 50Kg 43 Objects total With current object hardness and weapon settings, ~80 well placed 250Kg bombs will destroy all the objects, or the bombloads of ~10 He111s. Obviously more than one bomber mission will be required. It should be possible to fly three strike missions, but timing would be very tight. With a direct routing, climb to 12K at T+100, bomb, extend to flip, bomb, RTB, 55 min round trip. Surprisingly, as a single aircraft over flying the heart of the Malta defences in straight and level flight I only lost one aileron from flak, and that was on the way back. I have adjusted the minfuel settings for buffs down from 100% to 50% and will update the rules accordingly. |
