jabo wrote: Thats a great one coolon. If it was just a bit higher res I could put it as a texture on that exact island and you would see the streets and runway etc. But regardless its great for placing building objects. You can see this airfield was rather elaborate. The problem with terrains in the enhanced graphics mode is that you are allowed only 4 textures per arena so you have to get one that works for all areas. But since Pearl is so small we may be able to find one that fits the entire harbour area, if we are lucky or can scan something. What resolution would it need? |

Generally I make my textures from google earth at either 2048x2048 or 4096x4096. For smaller areas like urban or village textures you can do down to 1024x1024. For this application since there is really only pearl harbour I would like to make one texture of the area as big as I can and then try and fit it into the terrain. Not going to be easy but possible. Then you can place objects ontop of a more realistic looking harbour/city area. |

Just did a quick test of the updated Pearl Harbor map. I liked what I saw. Are there going to be more objects placed around the anchorage areas? Like ships, the oil tank farm and sub base? |

Skip the comment about adding more objects to the main harbor area. What is there eats the frame rates bad enough. |

Thats the problem. I think if you stay away from ships, parked a/c, trees and road objects you can have almost any objects in an area. Once you add the cool ones everything seems to go to hell. Kudos for mspiro for figuring out what is most important in a target rich environment. |

If you others can check FPS over Pearl that would be great. Need to know if its a mac thing or PC as well. Got a report of FPS issues in a specific area of the Solomons on IENs forums. Would like to track these issues down before if possible. |

OK, I may be late but while looking at the terrain today found a couple odd things. #1 F3 has pieces north and north east of F5. Maybe this was suppose to be a separate field? #2 F7 is a Radar station (wrong Icon) Exact same as F6. #3 Radar post F10 is not a radar post (no DAR that I can find). must be the wrong icon. Definitely not an issue for the series but should be corrected someday. |
