Post subject:  S3 #126 - Eighth Bomber Command - August 1942 - Set-up

This series will loosely represent the first five mission of 8th Bomber Command, and more specifically the missions of the 97thBG in mid-August 1942.

Terrain - Channel 1944
Radar Range– 40 miles for both Allied/Axis, min altitude 250 ft

Allied objective over the series is to destroy five target areas. Only one target area may be attacked in a single frame. Other than striking Rouen in frame one, the targets may be hit in any order in subsequent frames.
Bomber Targets:
1. Rouen (Rail Yd 143)
2. Abbeville Airfield (SAF111)
3. Oil Storage 91 (standing in for a rail target that is off the map)
4. Dunkirk Port (Port 61 – standing in for Rotterdam, which is off the map – only 60% of eligible obj need be destroyed)
5. Amiens (Rail Yd 121)

Flight Restrictions
Axis may not fly beyond 20 miles of the French/Belgian coastline, even if in “hot pursuit”, and may not overfly the UK. See inflight map.
No flight ops by either side west of the 4,X line.
Fuel limits – min 50% for the buffs, 100% for fighters

Plane Sets. Pilots must remain in the same aircraft type for an entire frame. After some internal debate, three lives for each pilot. If you lose a life, you must re-up from the airfield you last took off from. No teleporting, even in death.
Allied:
B-17F (sub for B-17E). Tentatively two, possibly three AI wingman (if numbers are low) with the bomber login available (min 25% of Allied to fly B-17, TBC pending numbers). Intent is to have ~ equal numbers of fighters on both sides, but still give Allied enough buffs to have a chance at closing the targets.
Spitfire IXa (really a IXb, but never mind)
Axis:
Bf 109F-4. ~30% of Axis pilots must fly the F-4
FW 190A-4 (sub for the A-3). ~70% of Axis pilots must fly the A-4

Aircraft Basing:
B-17Fs at Biggin Hill LAF-10 (not historic, just a point in space) 10K air start. B-17Fs may land away from Biggin Hill, but “lose a life” if they do so, so RTB to F10.
Spit IXs, anywhere in UK except LAF-10.
190/109s any airfield on the continent.

Side assignments:

Allied: DRs, 13 VRAF, RCAF, 4th, 23rd (13 pilots)
Axis: JG51, 352nd (7)
Any traditional Axis Squads/pilots may join Axis side. Unaffiliated, lone wolves to join Allied side

Arena will be open for practice.
